Festival highlights

As part of the Best of British Festival launch week, there will be six 'festival highlights' which have been masterminded by Artistic Director John Miller, previously of Winchester Festival, who has secured the festival’s patron Dame Judi Dench.

We will be welcoming some of the greatest names in British theatre, broadcasting, literature, politics and the military for the following festival highlights:

Other highlights throughout the launch week will include:

  • Jubilate - a weekend of celebration and a street party fit for a Queen at Guildhall Winchester
  • An outdoor performance of Roald Dahl's 'The Twits'
  • MAYfest is returning for a bumper celebration of Morris and folk music

During the second half of the Best of British Festival you can also enjoy Hat Fair, Blissfields Music Festival and activities at Marwell Wildlife to celebrate its 40th birthday.

Winchester Writers’ Conference is rumoured to be inviting both Alan Titchmarsh and Downton Abbey author Julian Fellowes to their conference.
